A last minute decision...

I set the alarm for 5am this morning in hopes a taking a hike into Silverbow Basin for the third day in a row. It was a little too dark still for my liking, so i went to the gym for a workout instead. Later, i invited a friend to join me for a hike at the glacier, but she already had plans. Kodiak and i made our way there for our walk anyway. I had planned to walk him along the beach to the falls, but struck out on East Glacier Trail instead. I wasn't dressed for a hike (light khakis as opposed to the dark pants i should where when on a trail with the dog), but i had my trusty Keens on, and we hit the trail in earnest and were rewarded with these views:

Mendenhall Lake (still partially frozen!) and Glacier from the trail

still lots of snow up high

broken stairs

Kodiak checks out the trail ahead

sun through the trees

a kettle pond at the trail head

It is the fourth day in a row of gorgeous Juneau weather... I'm so glad we made the most of it this morning! Thanks, Koko, for being great company! ;)
